some projects with artists
Here is a list of projects in collaboration with artists, done in the past decade or so:
- PROJECT TOPOI: From 2014 to (about) 2017, we did a joint project with one other mathematician (Roman Kossak – CUNY) and two artists (Wanda Siedlecka – New York City, and María Clara Cortés – UNAL, Bogotá). It is a math/art project that has been shown so far twice in the Painters Gallery in Fleischmanns, New York). The project is extended in time and consists of various actions. There was also a screening of a joint video at the John Ricard Studio in Manhattan, on March 19th 2016. An early description of our project was given in a PechaKucha presentation in November 2013 in Bogotá: http://www.pechakucha.org/cities/bogota/presentations/tales-of-topoi.
- POSPONER LA EMERGENCIA: For the Cátedra Performativa of the 45th National Salon of Artists (Bogotá, 2019), together with violinist Ana Ruiz, we performed a “conversation” between mathematics and violin, based on two texts (one by Ovid, one by Parmenides).

- FOUR/LOGUE: Four Logue project is a conversation among Wanda, María Clara, Roman and Andrés. Each of us gives instructions for everyone to follow. Each response can be a photographic image itself, or a documentation of an action, an object, an installation, etc., combined into one image to be included on the main page of the project.
The name Four Logue is a neologism to name a dialogue among the four of us. Our previous project, Topoi a Conversation, was an experiment in communication through images rather than words. The results can be seen here:

Four Logue has a more structured format. Single images, or a potential image, convey the “responses”, but at the same time they expose tensions arising from subjective interpretations of the instructions.
